Arthroscopic surgery
How will your knee problem be addressed?
Summary
My goal

As a member of the North American Association of Arthroscopy, I have extensive experience in arthroscopic procedures involving the knee. I began my arthroscopic training in 1983 and so over the twenty four years, I have improved my techniques for treating injuries inside the knee. In addition, I am also a member of the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine.. However, more importantly I have a vast knowledge of what you can and cannot cure with arthroscopic surgery.

Arthroscopic surgery is a technique in which small fiberoptic instruments are used to see inside a knee joint and then a huge number of other small instruments have been developed to deal with problems in the knee joint. I have experience working on the following types of problems:
1) cartilage or meniscal tears
2) ACL or PCL ligament injuries
3) loose bodies in the knee
4) patella tracking problems
5) fractures in the knee
6) arthritic conditions in the knee
7) cartilage transfer in the knee
8) cartilage repair procedures
9) infections in the knee
10) cysts around the knee

I have performed well over 3000 procedures in the above areas and I will be able to look at your problem with this experience behind me. When you present to my office with a knee problem, we will address your problem in the following ways:
1) A full review of any past injuries or surgery
2) Consideration of your current health including medications, weight, and family history
3) Complete up to date x-rays of your knee will be taken and explained
4) A full knee exam
5) Tests such as an MRI or bone scan will be ordered if necessary
6) Fluid in the knee will be sent to the lab if an infection or arthritic condition is a possible diagnosis
7) A comprehensive discussion of your problem with the use of drawings and models to explain your diagnosis
8) Treatment options both medical and surgical will be given and any future treatments that may be necessary
9) All insurance issues will be handled by my staff for tests, surgery, or follow-up visits
10) You will always have a chance to ask questions about your problem and we encourage you to write them down in advance of your visit

In summary, when you have completed your visit you will know what your diagnosis is or why we are doing tests. You will know what effect your problem will have in the long run.

It is my goal that when someone asks you " What did the doctor say was wrong" that you will always be able to answer the question or at least explain what we are planning to solve your problem. My entire office takes pride in our ability to help you understand your knee.
